URL Defense is a security feature that scans links before allowing access to virtual tour content. If you're seeing a warning screen when opening tours, this guide will help you proceed safely to your content.
What URL Defense Does
URL Defense acts as a protective gateway that scans links for potential security threats before allowing access. When you click a tour link protected by URL Defense, the system:
- Checks the link for potential security risks
- Verifies the content source is trusted and safe
- Blocks certain content types by default until you confirm it's intentional
- Requires manual confirmation before proceeding to the full experience
Important: URL Defense is a local security setting implemented by your organization or network. If you're seeing this screen, it doesn't mean your customers or prospects will encounter the same issue when accessing tours you share with them. This security feature is especially common in corporate environments like Hyatt Hotels, major management companies, and enterprise organizations.
How to Proceed Through URL Defense
Recognize the URL Defense Screen
When opening a tour link through URL Defense, you'll see a warning screen with a black error message. Look for the blue bar across the top of the screen—this indicates the security check is in progress.
The warning message may say something like "HTML5 Browser with WebGL or CSS3D support required!" but this doesn't mean there's actually a problem. It's simply URL Defense checking the link before allowing it to load.
Check the Security Status
Click the lock icon in the URL Defense toolbar to review security details. You should see:
- "Secure Connection" status
- "Reputation Check" showing "No Threat Detected" with a green checkmark
- "Threat Scan" showing "No Threat Detected" with a green checkmark
These green checkmarks confirm the link is safe and coming from a trusted source. Visiting Media tours consistently pass these security checks.
Exit URL Defense and Load Your Content
Once you've verified the security status shows no threats:
- Click the "EXIT" button on the warning screen
- Wait a moment while the link loads outside of URL Defense
- Your tour will load normally and you can view it as intended
The tour will now display in your browser without the URL Defense wrapper, and you'll be able to navigate through 360° photos, 3D models, and all other tour content.
When This Affects You vs. Your Customers
You see URL Defense when:
- Accessing tours from within your corporate network
- Your organization has security policies that scan all external links
- You're using a managed device with enterprise security settings
Your customers don't see URL Defense when:
- They access tours from their own devices and networks
- They're viewing tours you've shared via email, text, or direct links
- They're browsing from non-corporate environments
URL Defense is protecting you and your organization, not blocking your customers from seeing your content.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Error Persists After Exiting URL Defense
If you continue to see "HTML5 Browser with WebGL or CSS3D support required!" after the blue bar disappears:
- Update your browser to the latest version
- Enable WebGL in your browser settings
- Try using Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Restart your browser and try again
Security Check Fails
If URL Defense shows threats detected or blocks the link:
- Contact the person who shared the link to verify it's legitimate and hasn't been compromised
- Try accessing from a different network connection
- Clear your browser cache and try again
- Check if your organization's security policies have recently changed
Content Won't Load After Multiple Attempts
If tours won't load even after following all steps:
- Confirm your browser supports modern web standards (most recent versions do)
- Check if your organization blocks WebGL content entirely
- Try accessing from a personal device on a different network to confirm the content works
- Contact your IT department to verify security policies aren't blocking legitimate content
Why URL Defense Blocks Tours Initially
Tours use WebGL technology to display 360° photos and 3D models interactively. Some security systems treat WebGL cautiously because it's a powerful technology. URL Defense isn't saying tours are unsafe—it's simply doing its job by checking unfamiliar content types before allowing them through.
Once you've confirmed the link is safe (which Visiting Media tours always are), you can proceed confidently knowing your organization's security has verified the content.
Quick Reference
Seeing URL Defense? You're the only one—your customers won't see this when you share tours with them.
See green checkmarks? The tour is safe to proceed to.
Blue bar still showing? Wait for the security scan to complete.
Error after clicking EXIT? Try updating your browser or clearing your cache.
