When you add a Primary Action button to your tour, it shows up directly in the header, always visible to prospects without any extra clicks. On mobile devices and very small screens, the button's display adapts automatically. This article explains what to expect so your team isn't caught off guard when the label disappears or the button moves.
What the Primary Action Button Does
The Primary Action button gives prospects one-click access to a high-priority link — like a booking page, RFP form, or contact URL — right from the tour header. Because it lives in the header, it stays visible the entire time someone is exploring your tour.
You configure it in the Customize tab of the resource builder, where you'll set:
- Label — up to 20 characters (e.g., "Book Now" or "Request a Proposal")
- URL — the destination link you want prospects to reach
This feature is available on all tiers — Core, Plus, and Pro.
You can find additional information on editing your TrueTour here.
No button configured? If you haven't set up a Primary Action button, nothing extra appears in the header. The header simply displays as it always has.
How the Button Behaves on Smaller Screens
The Primary Action button is designed to stay accessible regardless of screen size, but it does adapt its appearance in two situations.
On Standard Mobile Screens
When a prospect views your TrueTour on a typical smartphone, the button label is hidden and only the icon displays. The button remains fully functional and tappable. The label just isn't shown.
What this means for you
Choose an icon that communicates the action clearly on its own. A calendar icon for booking, an envelope for contact, and similar recognizable symbols work well here. If your audience is less likely to infer the action from the icon alone, factor that into your icon selection.
On Very Small Screens
On very small screen sizes, the Primary Action button moves out of the header and into the main menu. Prospects can still access it, they just need to open the menu first.
This is intentional behavior, not a bug. On compact viewports, preserving the header layout takes priority, so the button relocates rather than being cut off or overlapping other elements.
Important Notes
- Label character limit is 20 characters. Keep labels short and action-oriented — "Book a Tour," "Reserve Now," or "Contact Us" all fit comfortably.
- The Primary Action button is an addition to your existing header elements, not a replacement for the virtual business card or other configured links.
Frequently Asked Questions
My client said the button label disappeared on mobile. Is something broken?
No, this is expected behavior. On mobile screens, the Visiting Media platform hides the label and shows only the icon to keep the header clean and tappable. The button still works normally. Direct your client to tap the icon to reach the linked destination.
