Create immersive experiences that drive bookings
Your Fairmont website's Accommodations page is where potential guests explore rooms and suites before booking. By embedding virtual tours directly on the page, you give visitors an immersive way to experience your property, building confidence and turning browsers into qualified leads.
This integration brings your guest rooms and suites to life with high-impact visuals that go beyond static images, keeping visitors engaged longer and inspiring them to book.
What you'll accomplish
Create a powerful first impression: Virtual tours embedded on your website give guests and planners an immediate, interactive way to explore your property—setting your hotel apart from the moment they arrive on your site.
Let the tour answer questions for you: Interactive content reduces early-stage back-and-forth by letting visitors explore at their own pace, understanding your rooms and suites before they reach out.
Generate qualified leads: When visitors can visualize their experience, you turn casual website traffic into guests and planners ready to book.
What you'll need
- One immersive asset per room and suite listed on your Accommodations page
- Access to your Asset Library in the Visiting Media platform
- Login credentials for Ektron (your content management system)
How to add virtual tours to your Accommodations page
Select the right assets for each room type
Navigate to your Asset Library and choose one immersive asset link for each room and suite featured on your website.
Recommended content by room type:
- Standard Rooms or Views: 360° Photos
- Suites: 3D Models
These formats give visitors the most realistic preview of what they'll experience when they stay at your property.
Repeat this process for each room and suite type on your website.
Add tour links in Ektron
Once you have all your links ready, log into Ektron and follow these steps for each room type:
- Navigate to Accommodations → Room Type
- Locate the Virtual Tour Link section
- Fill out the Virtual Tour Text field with a compelling call-to-action, such as "Take a Virtual Tour"
- Leave the Target field unchanged
- Paste your virtual tour link
- Save and publish your update
- Repeat for each room type
Your virtual tours will now appear on your Accommodations page, giving visitors an interactive way to explore each room category.
Choose content that showcases your rooms
3D Models for suites: Let guests virtually walk through your suites, exploring layouts and amenities as if they were on-site. This works especially well for showcasing spacious accommodations and premium offerings.
360° Photos for standard rooms: Offer highly realistic, detailed views that help guests understand room layouts, views, and finishes—building confidence before they book.
Best practices for visitor experience
Keep visitors on your website: Whenever possible, configure your virtual tours to open in a pop-up modal. This keeps visitors engaged with your site while they explore, creating a faster and smoother experience than opening new tabs.
Use clear, consistent calls-to-action: Language like "Take a Virtual Tour" helps visitors understand they can interact with your content, encouraging exploration and engagement.
Avoid embedding tours directly on the page: Opening tours in new tabs or embedding them inline can slow down page load times and disrupt the browsing experience. Pop-up modals offer the best balance of performance and engagement.
Ensure your virtual tours load seamlessly
To make sure your virtual tours work smoothly without being blocked by network filters, share the list of approved domains with your IT team. One key domain is https://visitme.co, which powers many of your tour links. View the full list of recommended domains to share with your team.
Why this works
Travelers exploring your Accommodations page are actively comparing rooms and making booking decisions. Virtual tours give them the confidence to choose your property by letting them experience your rooms firsthand—reducing uncertainty and building excitement before they ever check in.
By bringing your accommodations to life with immersive visuals, you're creating an experience that matches the quality guests expect from the Fairmont brand.
